Nick Hayes
President
Nicholas Hayes has been a driving force in the solar industry since 2015, developing over 40 megawatts of clean energy projects in Maryland and Washington, DC. As President of Advanced Solar since 2020, he has led the company through significant growth, overseeing more than 3,200 installations spanning residential homes, commercial buildings, schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations.
Nick is passionate about making renewable energy accessible to everyone—especially underserved communities. Through innovative financing models and incentive programs, he has championed no-cost solar solutions that lower energy bills and reduce carbon footprints. Under his leadership, Advanced Solar has become a leader in delivering free solar programs to Washington, DC residents and businesses, helping to drive local sustainability, job creation, and energy independence.
Trevor Gunther
Chief Operating Officer
Trevor oversees installation, survey, service, fleet performance, and other operations. He has been running solar survey and service departments and installation crews for over 10 years. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, kayaking and almost any activity in the great outdoors.
Brendan Welsh
Director of Project Management

Brendan graduated from Appalachian State University in 2014 with a degree in Sustainable Technology. Brendan received NABCEP certification in 2017. As Director of Project Management for Advanced Solar, Brendan manages installation and warehouse staff, facilitates design, permitting, utility approval, SREC registration, and the construction of residential and commercial solar projects.
Jerry Eller
Director of Design
Master Electrician
Jerry started in the electrical trade in 2012 as an apprentice. He graduated from the apprenticeship in 2017 with a 98.3% GPA and perfect attendance throughout the coursework. His residential, commercial, and telecom experience with critical systems, backup power, inverters, and uninterrupted power systems for facilities where “always on” is a must provides a strong basis for understanding the complexities of residential and commercial solar.

Lewis Martin, a proud U.S. Army Veteran, brings over 14 years of experience in solar and 25 years in corporate sales. He’s helped deliver 20+ megawatts of clean energy, leading projects for nonprofits, churches, fire stations, government, and commercial sites.
Lewis blends strategic vision with execution, driving impactful solar solutions with integrity and purpose.
Scott Johnson
General Manager
Master Electrician
NABCEP-certified
Scott has been in the construction industry since 1999, and has been a licensed master electrician since 2006. Scott is a licensed master electrician in DC, MD and VA. Scott also holds NABCEP PV installation professional certification.
Brian Tolodziecki
Installation Manager
Journeyman Electrician
Brian has a decade of experience in solar installation. He is a licensed journeyman electrician and an Enphase-certified PV installer. He applies his extensive electrical and PV installation knowledge to supervise and educate in the field to ensure proper safety and installation procedures. Brian works closely with his team to create a safe and friendly work environment for all installers and provide a smooth and seamless installation experience for our customers.

Tracey Williams has overseen the growth of Advanced Solar’s customer experience department from a one-woman show to a symphony of support.

Shane McKelvy

Shane has installed more than 20 Megawatts and has over a decade of experience in the solar industry. He has deep technical knowledge of all aspects of solar energy systems, having led a wide range of projects from rooftops & carports to some of the largest utility installations in the nation’s capital. Shane is dedicated to ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.
Tyler Baldwin

Tyler is a licensed journeyman electrician and NABCEP-certified solar installation professional with 10+ years of residential and commercial solar experience. He has managed the construction of 900+ solar installs. Tyler helps review plan sets and manage Advanced Solar’s construction teams.

Steven Neff is an experienced electrician with a career spanning over 16 years. He earned his journeyman certification 4 years ago, affirming his expertise and dedication to the craft. Two years ago Steve brought his passion for perfection and service to solar photovoltaic system installation and design.

Jason Hageman
Senior Project Manager | Lewis Martin Portfolio
Jason Hageman serves as Senior Project Manager at Advanced Solar, overseeing Lewis Martin’s portfolio of commercial and residential solar projects from development through installation and Permission to Operate.
A U.S. Army veteran with seven years of service, Jason brings disciplined leadership and a mission-focused approach to project execution. He specializes in complex commercial, multifamily, nonprofit, faith-based, and multi-property projects, coordinating clients, investors, utilities, and operational teams.
Jason is dedicated to solving challenges, maintaining strong relationships, and delivering successful projects that create long-term value for clients and Advanced Solar.
Joshua Peebles
Senior Solar Consultant
Joshua has worked in solar since 2015. He has provided 100’s of DC home and commercial property owners with solar power. You can measure his impact on people’s lives in hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. His integrity, knowledge, and experience have allowed him to earn a place as one of the top solar consultants in Washington, DC. Josh is the grandson of Pastor Betty Peebles of the Jericho City of Praise and is committed to serving low-income residents with the gift of free solar power.
Charlie Clarke
Senior Design & Operations | Lewis Martin Team
Charlie Clarke supports design and operations for the Lewis Martin Team at Advanced Solar, guiding residential and commercial solar projects from initial evaluation through installation and Permission to Operate.
He coordinates site surveys, system designs, utility requirements, permitting, documentation, and installation readiness, working closely with engineering, electrical, roofing, and field teams.
With a focus on complex commercial properties and multi-meter buildings, Charlie connects clients, utilities, and designers to keep projects moving efficiently. He prioritizes clear communication, accurate planning, practical solutions, and a seamless experience for every client.
Ty Martin
Design & Operations | Lewis Martin Team
Ty Martin supports residential and commercial solar projects at Advanced Solar, working with the Lewis Martin Team from initial planning through installation.
A former U.S. Coast Guard member with college studies in finance, Ty brings a disciplined, analytical, and hands-on approach to design and operations. He assists with pre-survey designs, system layouts, site information, project coordination, and operational support to help projects progress efficiently.
As Lewis Martin’s son, Ty is committed to building on his father’s established portfolio and reputation while developing his technical expertise, strengthening client relationships, and taking on greater responsibility within the team.
